Research Centre of Construction Technology, R&D division in the Selena Group, signed an agreement with the Polish Ministry of Economy to modernize its research and development center. 40% of the investment scheduled for the years 2013-2014 will be funded from the Ministry of Economy’s Innovative Economy Operational Programme.
The capital obtained will be used to enhance and further expand Research Centre of Construction Technology (RCCT), whose R&D laboratories are currently located in three facilities in Poland. RCCT will invest most of the funds in the purchase of specialized equipment, including gas chromatograph, aging test chamber, infrared spectrometer and other devices indispensable for research and development of new products in the industry of construction chemicals.
Selena conducts its R&D operations in Poland, Spain, Turkey and China, and RCCT harmonizes and unifies the activities of all the teams. This facilitates the transfer of knowledge throughout Selena companies from all regions of the world, allowing them to quickly respond to customer needs worldwide. This requirement for flexibility stems from Selena’s model of operations and the global nature of its activities. Selena products are present in over 70 countries worldwide – such a geographical scope of operations requires offers tailored to the needs of each of the markets.
“Innovation and new product development comprise one of the pillars of Selena’s strategy. In our activities, we will put more emphasis on research and development conducted by our R&D departments located in four countries, along with RCCT which had been set up for this exact purpose. Its mission is to integrate and intensify research and development, and support strategies to build-up competitive advantage for the Group, based on new ideas and unique technology. RCCT is currently carrying out work to expand the scale and capacity of your business. With the funds obtained under the EU Innovative. Economy Project, it will be possible to purchase specialized equipment, which will not only improve the team’s work, but also increase the potential for generating innovative solutions” – said Jarosław Michniuk, CEO of Selena FM SA, parent company in the Selena Group.
Funds received under the agreement with the Ministry of Economy will be used for the project “Diversification of RCCT’s R&D activities by establishing an R&D Center” under the Innovative Economy Operational Programme – priority axis Investments in innovative projects.
Research Centre of Construction Technology was established in 2010 to integrate and intensify research and development, and support strategies to build competitive advantage for Selena based on innovative products and technology. RCCT laboratories currently employ about 30 people and have a continuous cooperation with R&D departments of Selena’s international companies, as well as universities, research and certifying institutions both in Poland and worldwide. One of RCCT’s key tasks is to create formulas for new products, modify the existing solutions, and also provide technical support for production, sales and marketing.
