The Polish government delegation met with domestic investors and entrepreneurs operating in the Italian market. The meeting took place at the Polish Embassy in Rome. This was an opportunity for representatives of Selena Group to present their business development plans in Italy. The meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin and the President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency Krzysztof Drynda focused on the challenges and specific nature of Polish companies’ operations on the Italian Peninsula.
The government delegation met with entrepreneurs, exporters and investors from Poland who have been developing their business in Italy for years. The meeting was organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, which supports foreign expansion of domestic companies.
During his visit to Rome, the Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by, among others, Anna Maria Anders, Polish ambassador to Italy, Krzysztof Drynda, President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, and Grzegorz Piechowiak, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology. The topics discussed included different aspects of business development in Italy and barriers faced by Polish businesses.
“Italy is a very important market for Selena Group. For years now, we’ve been conducting not only commercial but also research and development activities here. We have two companies in Italy: Selena Italia and Uniflex. We want to grow, also through further acquisitions”, said Robert Kalarus, CEO of the Italian company Uniflex, member of Selena Group. “Large Polish companies are capable of successful international expansion that will effectively combine increasing market share in individual countries and acquisitions as springboards for business growth. It’s common practice in mature Western economies to support domestic companies in their international expansion. Selena is happy to see growing support from successive Polish governments over the past 15 years”.
The visit by Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, Labor and Technology, is aimed at intensifying economic cooperation between Poland and Italy. The meeting with representatives of Polish companies that have been developing their business on the Italian Peninsula for years, was devoted to identifying new areas and challenges in which the government could support entrepreneurs. During intergovernmental meetings, members of the delegation will request for simplifying procedures and developing support mechanisms.
“Today’s meeting is the best proof of the importance of Polish-Italian partnership and development of this cooperation. Italy is Poland’s third commercial partner in terms of the value of trade. Large companies from Poland have been successful there for years, paving the way for medium and smaller businesses, as well as innovative startups and companies from niche sectors. As the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, we declare support in showcasing the Polish export offering and providing information about how to invest in Poland. But our role is also to reduce risks associated with Polish companies’ presence on foreign markets. Today’s event is undoubtedly an opportunity for representatives of Polish and Italian business to forge and maintain valuable business relationships and to meet directly with a group of potential partners”, says Krzysztof Drynda, President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
Selena Group gained a foothold in Italy 18 years ago when it founded Selena Italia in 2003. The company sells many of the Group’s products under the Tytan Professional brand, including polyurethane foams, adhesives, waterproofing products and sealants. The strong development, which consolidated Selena’s position on the Italian market and elsewhere in Western Europe, can be traced back to 2017, when Selena took over Uniflex, a leading manufacturer of sealants.
“Uniflex is one of the largest producers of acrylics in this part of Europe. Sealants produced by this company account for most of our sales in Italy”, emphasized Robert Kalarus, Selena Group representative, during the meeting with the Polish government delegation.
Selena Group conducts its activities on the Italian Peninsula with a team of over one hundred employees and partners. The plant in Mezzocorona produces acrylic sealants, which are sold to many countries in Europe and the world. For more than ten years, Selena Group has been also cooperating in the R&D area with one of the oldest and most famous Italian universities – the University of Pisa.
The Group comprises 35 companies in 18 countries. The Group’s manufacturing plants are located in Poland, South Korea, China, Romania, Turkey, Spain, Kazakhstan, and Italy. The Group’s portfolio is topped by such outstanding brands as: Tytan Professional, Quilosa, Artelit, and COOL-R, which are recognized by customers in 100 markets around the world.
